Medical liability costs said to be impacting healthcare quality, innovation

A significant amount of money that could be used to improve the quality and delivery of hospital care is instead going to defensive medicine practices, healthcare officials recently informed lawmakers. Richard Migliori, a doctor and executive vice president of health services for a major health insurer, recently told the Senate Finance Committee that hospitals have increasingly had to devote much of their resources toward protecting themselves financially from lawsuits stemming from allegations of improper treatment.
